IATA/UFTAA FOUNDATION DIPLOMA
(3 Months)

Who is this course aimed at?

The IATA/UFTAA Foundation Diploma is ideal for candidates that have no previous background in the Travel and Tourism industry but are thinking about starting a career.

It is particularly useful for those who want to work as travel consultants with airlines or tour operators and allows applicants to stand out by gaining an internationally recognised certificate for their professional qualification.

Entry Requirements:

How long do I need to study for?

Each of the IATA/UFTAA Diplomas can be completed in just twelve weeks. However, many students choose to extend their studies by a further twelve weeks by choosing an optional work placement as a way of gaining valuable practical experience.

If students choose to undertake the 12 weeks work placement it means that each of the IATA/UFTAA Diplomas takes twenty-four weeks to complete. Students can choose to complete their studies after the Foundation Diploma or continue studying at Consultant or Management level.

What kind of job can I look for after the course?

Graduates of the IATA/UFTAA Foundation Diploma are perfectly suited to customer service positions within travel agents and tour operators.

These roles usually include liaising with customers, dealing with problems and enquiries, selling holidays and booking duties. Naturally, jobs like these give an individual a chance to advance their career doing something that they love.

IATA/UFTAA CONSULTANT DIPLOMA

Students who want to make their CVs stand out can improve their career prospects by choosing to continue their studies with an IATA/UFTAA Consultant Diploma, a versatile professional qualification recognised in all 150 Member States of the World Tourism Organisation.

Who is this course aimed at?

The IATA/UFTAA Consultant Diploma is ideal for candidates who have finished their Foundation Diploma and want to enhance their career prospects. Candidates with more experience and a higher level of qualification are able to apply for a wider range of positions, so the Consultant Diploma is a great way for those who already have experience in the industry to outclass graduates from other Travel and Tourism courses.

IATA/UFTAA Management Diploma
(3 Months)

Optional Work Placement in a relevant field
(3 Months)

You have the option to undertake a 12 week work placement after successful completion of each IATA/UFTAA Diploma.

This is the perfect opportunity to practice what you have learnt so far in real life situations, plus you will gain the important experience employers prefer when they choose between job applicants. Work placements are a great way to enhance your CV and it can be a “foot in the door” to your dream job.

Your tasks will include ticket and accommodation booking plus basic administration duties.

We cannot guarantee payment for work placements but employers usually pay the minimum wage to cover your living expenses. The main objective is for you to gain valuable experience. You will receive support from Oxford House College throughout your work placement.

AIRLINE COMPUTER RESERVATION SYSTEMS (CRS)
GALILEO/AMADEUS/WORLDSPAN/SABRE

Learn how to use two of the computerised reservation systems on which the travel and tourism industry depends.

GALILEO is the best known and most popular reservation system in the UK, whereas AMADEUS is the preferred online booking tool used on the websites of over 150 companies in the travel and tourism industry. SABRE is the most popular CRS booking system in the US, whereas WORLDSPAN is very popular with large international booking engines.

Together they allow you to check flight availability, reserve seats on scheduled air services, arrange car hire and make accommodation bookings.

Please note: you will complete the CRS courses online. All CRS courses are interactively offered in conjunction with VIASINC.

1. How can I enrol?

You will need to complete the Hotel, Travel and Tourism Training Application Form, which can be downloaded from our website at: (http://www.oxfordhousecollege.co.uk)

IATA: International air transport is one of the most dynamic industries in the world. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the global trade organisation and regulatory body of the industry.

Over 60 years, IATA has developed the commercial standards that built a global industry. Today, IATA’s mission is to “represent, lead and serve the airline industry”.

Its members comprise some 260 airlines - the world’s leading passenger and cargo airlines among them - representing 94 per cent of international scheduled air traffic.

3. Who is UFTAA?

UFTAA: the United Federation of Travel Agents’ Associations (UFTAA) is a world body representing the travel agency and tourism industry.

UFTAA effectively represents Travel Agents and Tour Operators views by continuous dialogue and consultation with other international organisations such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA). UFTAA’s mission is to be an international forum where matters affecting the world travel industry are addressed.

4. Who is the BAC:

BAC: The British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education (BAC) inspects and accredits independent colleges which offer further and higher education.

These include colleges offering professional and vocational education, mainly in Business Studies, IT, Hotel and Tourism.

All accredited colleges are inspected by specialist teams and are assessed in five areas:

All our Computer Reservation Systems (CRS)
courses are interactively offered in conjunction with VIASINC.


6. What is the attendance policy at Oxford House College?

In order to comply with various regulations, we expect our students to attend a minimum of 85% of their classes throughout their course. Teachers will keep a record of each student’s attendance throughout the term.

You will be marked absent if you arrive more than 20 minutes late for class or leave the class more than 20 minutes early. You are only allowed to be absent for a maximum of 4 classes per module each term and will be sent a warning letter after each class that you miss.

You will get 3 warning letters, after which you face expulsion from the school. If you are ill or have an emergency, you need to inform your teacher who will excuse you from the class.

7. Can Oxford House College give me a place to stay while I study?

If you need a place to stay while you study we offer a choice of Hostel accommodation or Homestay with a host family at affordable prices. We want your stay to be special so our Accommodation Officers are trained to find you a place that suits your lifestyle.

 

8. Is this college accredited to support me if I am on a student visa?

A large proportion of our students come from other countries and are applying for a student visa at the time they enrol with us, so we are fully aware of the UK Home Office’s requirements.

Oxford House College and all its partners are fully accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC), Education UK, The British Council, UCAS (registration number 40445) the Department for Educational Skills (DfES): registration number 23306.

Please note that we are not authorised to offer any advice on visa requirements and apart from issuing your “Unconditional Acceptance Letter” which you will need for your visa application, we do not offer any further visa assistance.

9. Do I need to pay a registration fee?

We do charge a registration fee which is included in your course fee. However, if you request a refund because your visa was refused or any other valid reason, we will refund the fees you have paid to date less a £65 registration fee.
