What is DELTA?

DELTA is the Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults, one of the world’s foremost qualifications for experienced ELT professionals.

This comprehensive training programme is ideal for those wishing to acquire new insights and a deeper understanding of ELT. Advanced training includes teaching practice, lesson observations and supervised teaching assignments. DELTA offers a well-proven fast track to professional recognition and can open up new careers in teacher training, school management, ELT publishing and many others.

Who is DELTA for?

Participants will normally have a range of experience teaching English as a foreign language to adults, involving work in different contexts to a variety of nationalities and levels. This means at least two years' full time teaching (approximately 1,200 hours) within the last 5 years. Participants must also have either the CELTA or the Trinity College, London CertTESOL qualification.

How long is the DELTA course?

DELTA is a part-time course lasting 16 weeks.

What is the timetable?

Theory sessions are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 18:30 – 21:30 and on two Saturdays from 10:00 – 14:00. Teaching practice sessions are every 3rd week (possibly starting in Week 1) on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday form 18:30 – 20:30. Please see Fees and Dates for further details.

Terms & Conditions

Please note that enrolment on our courses is subject to the following:

  • Teaching done as part of the course or scheme is unpaid
  • Changes in the policy of Cambridge ESOL, be they administrative or academic, may force changes to the details outlined in our information
  • Deposits are non-refundable
  • Course cancellation fees: if you cancel your course more than 4 weeks before the course starts - full refund of course fees; if you cancel you course between 2 and 4 weeks before the course starts - 50% refund of course fees; if you cancel your course less than 2 weeks before the course starts – no refund of course fees
  • Course fees include examination fees, which are non-refundable
  • Examination fees are payable by Oxford House College only where candidates take the examinations at Oxford House College, London; where candidates wish to take the examinations in another location there may be an additional fee
  • The course fee includes the examination fees only in the year in which the course is taken
  • If you submit a written assignment or take a mock examination after the course deadline, there will be a charge of £30 per assignment or paper to be marked
  • Should you fail to take one of your classroom teaching observations on any course, there will normally be no opportunity for you to re-take this, but if you are allowed to re-take this observation, you will be charged a fee of £50
  • The College cannot guarantee that the requested course will take place if there are insufficient candidates enrolled on the course; if the College has to cancel a course, a full refund of fees will be made to candidates
  • Please note that there are no refunds if you leave the course once it has started. However, in the case of extreme or unavoidable circumstances such as serious illness, we may allow you to join a later course upon payment of a second course deposit (£100). It will be at the College’s absolute discretion to deem whether or not the circumstances were extreme or unavoidable. The date for joining a later course would be mutually agreed between you and Oxford House College. Courses may only be deferred once.

How to Book your DELTA Course

We have made it fast and simple for you to register and pay for your DELTA course at Oxford House College, London. You may do this:

    If you are in London, just visit us at the college any weekday between 08:30 - 20:30 on weekdays and 08:30 - 17:00 on Saturdays. Our friendly staff will answer any questions and help you complete your DELTA Enrolment Form.
  • By telephone
    Call us on + 44 (0) 20 7580 9785 to discuss all aspects of your DELTA course and make bookings.
  • Book over the Internet, by post or fax
    You may download our DELTA Enrolment Form or request it by post, fax or e-mail. You may then complete the details and return it to us.

This monthly event is the ideal opportunity to listen to celebrated ELT speakers talk about the latest developments in teaching methodology and practice. Sessions combine theory with practice.
