Virgin Atlantic Airlines is the second largest air
carrier in the UK, with over 4 million passengers per year.
Our ‘VA1’ course provides a thorough introduction
to the practical skills involved in planning, quoting for and booking
flights. The skills that you learn on this course will provide you
with the basic knowledge you need to become a professional within
the travel industry. If you have never studied airline travel fares
and ticketing, this is the course for you!
The training includes:
- Interpretation of ticket types, including manual, ATBS and
E-tickets
- Understanding IATA Geographic areas and Global indicators
- Understanding IATA Airline Coding System
- Identifying fare types, including Infant, Child, Apex, Budget,
Pex, Crew and Unpublished
- Constructing Fares in Neutral Units of Construction (NUCS),
using the basic principles of the mileage system
- Baggage allowances
- Tax and Security Charges
- Completion of Miscellaneous Charge Order (MCO) documentation
There are no specific entry requirements, but course applicants
should have a good standard of general education and, for overseas
students, a basic level of English.
