Note: You must begin the application procedure early
enough to ensure that we receive all documents at least 4 weeks
before the start of the work placement. It may, however, be possible
to accept applications at shorter notice after consultation with
and approval of Oxford House College. It is your responsibility
to follow this procedure and make sure that your work placement
is arranged in time. Oxford House College cannot accept any responsibility
for any delays on your side.
If you are taking a sandwiched undergraduate or postgraduate course,
you need to register for the work placement at least 8 weeks prior
to the date of commencement of your work placement. For example,
students of the Business Management sandwich programme must start
the work placement application process after they have completed
Stage 1(the International Diploma in Business Studies) but before
beginning Stage 2 (the International Advanced Diploma in Business
Studies), while MBA students must start the work placement application
process after they have completed the first 3 modules of Stage 1.
Please read the following carefully and make sure that you follow
the instructions accordingly:
Step 1 (Duration –
at least 6 weeks before the course/work placement start date)
Complete and send the following documents via email before
enrolling on the course/work placement:
• Your completed CV (Curriculum Vitae) in English –
All CVs must be in good English and contain as much information
as possible (remember especially to include your current studies
if appropriate)
• Passport photograph (as a scanned document)
• A letter of motivation explaining why you would like
to work in your chosen area of business, what you wish to
achieve and the skills you bring (1 side of A4 - address the
letter to “Dear Sir/Madam”)
• The proposed period of your work placement (as agreed
with the Director of Studies – English Language Programmes
if appropriate)
Please email these documents to:
info@oxfordhousegroup.com
The above information allows us to:
• check that your level of English is sufficient
• understand your expectations for the work placement
|
Step 2 (Duration – 1 week)
On receipt of these documents, and provided we are satisfied
with all of the information you have provided, we will forward
them to the Work Placements Company for their consideration.
|
Step 3 (Duration – 1 week) |
The Work Placements Company will identify and contact suitable
companies (according to your expectations, training and practical
skills) and report back to us as to the possibility of arranging
a successful work placement for you.
Please note that you must send your
completed application form along with all supporting documentation
and the full fees within a maximum of 4 weeks of the completion
of Step 3. If you fail to do so you may be required to start
the process again from Step 1. |
Step 4 (Duration –
Immediate)
Once you have enrolled and paid the full fees, we will send
you an unconditional Acceptance letter of acceptance and put
you in direct contact with the Work Placements Company, who
will provide you with further information about your host
organisation.
Oxford House College will organise your study
part of the programme i.e. General English, etc. and your
unconditional Acceptance will state the exact course start
date. You should therefore make sure to attend your taught
course element as prescribed by Oxford House College
From this point onward it becomes your responsibility
to communicate with the Work Placements Company on a regular
basis and to ensure that your work placement is arranged on
time. There is also usually an interview with the host organisation
(either by telephone or face to face) before the work placement
is finalised. You must attend any interview which Oxford House
College arranges or, if you are likely to be late for/can
no longer attend an arranged interview, you must notify the
host organisation/Oxford House College/the Work Placements
Company in advance.
|
Step 5
The Work Placements Company will also be available to monitor
your progress and offer support during your work placement.
|
Step 6
At the end of your work placement you will complete a report
of your experience.
